Based in London or remotely, as a Backend Tester, you will work in our Customer & Marketing Domain which encompasses Customer service, Colleagues, Finance and Marketing functions all revolving around products and services which our customers interact with.

In the past 12 months, we have moved from local country specific customer accounts to a wide TUI Group Customer account that all our customers can use to log in in all our TUI source market websites and apps seamlessly, using the same credentials and being able to recover key data like associated bookings and searches. This is just the beginning – we are planning to expand our TUI Account capabilities to give our customers more benefits and increased facilities that helps TUI tailor their digital journey with TUI. And this is where we need your help.

In order to support the on-going evolution of the TUI Customer Account we need highly motivated and skilled technical testers to join the QA team


Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our ways of working are a bit different just now with most of our colleagues working from home all the time.  Most colleagues worked from home at least a couple of days a week before the current situation, as looking after our colleague’s welfare is important to us. However, it’s very likely this role will begin with you being based at home, there will be lots of opportunities to connect with your colleagues via technology, and when we can get together face-to-face, we will. 


How you will make an impact as a Back End API Tester:
There are many ways for you to get involved:


As a Back End API Tester you will be responsible for testing releases of functionality to support the roll out of features within the TUI Customer Account on the Group AWS platform. This will include functional, integration and performance testing of APIs; testing deployment scripts for infrastructure, API and application levels and taking a key role within the delivery lifecycle. You will be working in an Agile Scrum manner, testing user stories and tasks, forming a key part of the Agile Scrum team. You will play key role to ensure that all backend systems are working as expected. 

You will be working on the delivery of new AWS services and assisting with delivering core value to the future success of the Customer Account Team. The range of testing will be challenging as we require QA at all levels of our new platform including API, service, deployment and source system integration.


What you will bring to TUI as a Back End API Tester:
There is more than one way to the perfect fit – here are some of the ideal things:


  • 2+ years’ experience of API and microservices testing
  • Exploratory Session Based test techniques
  • Fluent with using Postman or a similar tool
  • Familiar with a programming language
  • Agile & Scrum practice
  • Exceptional organizational skills 
  • High attention to details
  • Able to work in fast paced environment 
  • Team player, analytical thinking


Any experience in the following will be of benefit:

  • Performance Testing e.g. Jmeter 
  • Automating Test Pipeline in Jenkins 
  • Amazon S3 Buckets / EC2
  • CloudWatch / CloudTrail Metrics and Logging
  • API Gateway staging, mocking and configuration
  • Understanding of BDD /TDD
  • Charles / Fiddler
