The Compliance Monitoring Manager at TUI Airways heads up the area of the Safety, Compliance and AOC (SCA) Directorate that deals with all regulatory compliance on behalf of the organisation. The role reports to the Director of SCA with direct access to the Accountable Manager for maintenance of regulatory responsibilities.

The role requires a strong leader with excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills as well as being able to lead a recently restructured compliance team. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of EASA, National and 3rd party regulations that are applicable to the TUI Airways operation. This manager will be expected to advise and guide the Accountable Manager, Nominated Persons and stakeholders in Operations, Customer, Flight Operations and Engineering directorates in all aspects of aviation compliance management. The role requires an individual who will be the source of regulatory knowledge and the first point of reference for all colleagues requiring clarification on regulatory compliance issues including providing on-call specialist compliance advice to support the operation in and out of office hours. This individual will conduct and deliver operational and/or engineering audits within a designed audit programme. The individual must be able to provide a service to the airline which ensures compliance adherence through a balanced risk-based approach.

  • Assume the regulatory roles of Compliance Monitoring Manager (AOC, ATO and CAMO) supporting and advising the Accountable Manager regarding the oversight and maintenance of the compliance of the organisation with the applicable regulations to maintain its operating approval certifications
  • Develop, implement and maintain a suitable Compliance Monitoring Management function and audit programme to ensure maintenance of the organisation’s AOC in line with all applicable national and international regulations. You will be responsible for facilitation of the Compliance Monitoring Board meeting at an interval determined by the Accountable Manager
  • Support Senior Leaders, up to and including the Airline Board, on all aspects of the company Compliance Monitoring Management system you’ll also liaise with the CAA and other relevant external entities regarding the compliance monitoring function

  • Ensure the implementation of the compliance monitoring programme, the raising of any observed non-compliances or highlighting of poor standards to the attention of the applicable nominated person and relevant manager.  You’ll also assess and close non-conformity reports as required
  • Working with department managers you’ll ensure an effective system of contractor, subcontractor and supplier assessment, review and control
  • Be accountable for the amendment and control of the Compliance Monitoring Manual and associated departmental procedures and you will provide internal training on the TUI Compliance Monitoring programme
  • Facilitate the management evaluation and review process of the compliance management function as well as the administration of the organisations audit recording software
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Compliance Monitoring Management system are identifying risks to the organisation and mitigations are identified by those responsible, and that it forms a link into the Safety Management system.

What You Will Bring

  • Ability to hold Form 4 responsibilities as defined by regulatory standards
  • Strong leadership with demonstrable experience in a management position of which some is within safety and/or compliance management
  • Completion of a recognised Lead Auditor course
  • Extensive experience within an aviation / airline environment or similarly regulated industry 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, resilience and the ability to challenge effectively at all levels up to and including Board level
  • Regulatory auditing experience
  • Ability to develop, appraise, coach and improve peers and subordinates
  • Experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, processes and procedures
  • Educated to at least Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent experience
  • Initiate, plan, manage and deliver projects with little or no oversight
