Embarking upon the 19 month TUI Airline Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) Cadet Program is an exciting opportunity for those with little, or no, flying experience. You’ll complete your training and eventually join TUI fly Belgium as a First Officer flying the Boeing 737. We’re looking for candidates who are committed, resilient and hard-working, with great communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. About You
In order to apply for our MPL Cadet Program, there are a few requirements that need to be met:
- You are a citizen of the EU
- You are free to start the program in September 2024. This is a full-time, 19-month intensive course that cannot be combined with higher studies/other work
- You are at least 18 years old when the program starts or you turn 18 in the year the program starts
- You hold a secondary education degree preferably with a focus on science subjects
- You can speak/understand and write/read English fluently (ICAO level 4)
- You have a European passport before training starts
- You have not commenced an integrated ATPL course or have attempted any theoretical exames required for the issue of a Commercial Pilot Licence or Airline Transport Pilot licence (regardless of the result)
- You do not currently hold a CPL or ATPL license
- Before the start of your training, you have obtained a Class 1 medical at your own expense
- You can present a certificate of good conduct and are willing to undergo a background check
- You will be responsible for financing the training cost of €54.000 including VAT. You pay this amount in three instalments.
About the Program
The training for the MPL Cadet Program is split into three separate phases (with each phase running consecutively):
Phase 1 – ATPL Ground School (Theoretical Knowledge Instruction)
During this phase you’ll study the required theoretical knowledge and complete the 13 ground school exams.
Duration – 7 months
Location – Remote Computer-Based Training (CBT) and (virtual) classroom learning
Phase 2 – Basic Flying Training
Basic flying training will be in a Robin DR401 aircraft owned by TUI and you’ll complete approximately 62 hours of flying. During this phase, you’ll also complete Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT) which will be completed over three hours on an advanced trainer aircraft.
Duration – 4 months
Location – Sint-Truiden
Phase 3 – Intermediate & Advanced Flying Training
This will take place in a B737 simulator where you’ll operate in a multi-crew environment using TUI procedures from day one. You’ll complete approximately 180 hours in the simulator, and this will include the completion of a type rating.
Duration – 8 months
Location – Training will be placed within a TUI approved training facility
Assessment Process
1. An online assessment which consists of the following tests:
· English test: speaking, listening, writing
· Verbal reasoning test
· Logical reasoning test
· Numerical reasoning test
2. A face-to-face interview + group assessment with one of our CRM instructors and HR – @Zaventem
3. Simulator assessment on the B737 @CAE Brussels or Düsseldorf – This stage is a flying test with our TUI Airline Training teams. This will be in a simulator where your pilot aptitude will be assessed. No previous flying experience is necessary.
4. A board interview – @Zaventem
5. Online psychological assessment which consists of:
· A personality Questionnaire
· Cognitive Reasoning test
· A video interview of 45 minutes

Phase 2 – Basic Flying Training

Phase 3 – Intermediate & Advanced Flying Training
Intermediate and advanced flying training will take place in a B737 simulator where you will operate in a multi-crew environment using TUI procedures from day one. You will complete approximately 180 hours in the simulator, and this will include the completion of a type rating.

- Location – Training will be placed within a TUI approved training facility

- You are free to start the program in September 2024. This is a full-time, 19-month intensive course that cannot be combined with higher studies/other work
- You are at least 18 years old when the program starts or you turn 18 in the year the program startsIf you are still 17 years old when starting the training, your parent(s)/legal guardian need to sign the training agreement
- You hold a secondary education degree with a focus on science subjects (ASO or TSO track)
- You can speak/understand and write/read English fluently (ICAO level 4)
- You have a European passport before training starts
- You do not currently hold a CPL or ATPL license
- Before the start of your training, you have obtained a Class 1 medical at your own expense and have had an inoculation against yellow fever
Candidates from other EU countries are welcome to apply for the MPL college. However, it is important to have the correct residence documents to be eligible to start the programme. Candidates without the correct documents will not be admitted to the MPL college.
Unfortunately, candidates from non-EU countries are excluded from this program.
No, unfortunately due to Brexit you are no longer a EU citizen. However, TUI UK runs an MPL programme each year.
No, the accommodation will be paid only when you have to attend trainings abroad.
The course start date is early September 2024.
After successfully completing the training, you will receive a first temporary contract for 8 months. This allows us to deduct part of the cost (€8,259) from your future salary. You will therefore pay a total amount of €44,644 + VAT during the training. You will pay this amount in three installments. Each installment needs to be paid before the start of a new training phase.
No the training is continuous hard work and requires full time availability
Candidates who applied before for the MPL program can apply again for this program. However, they are allowed to apply only twice to enter the MPL program.
Situations beyond your control can always happen. Short-term unforeseen circumstances are buffered in the program. However, longer periods of unavailability will consequently delay the start of your Line Training.
You need to successfully complete the training and are then offered a first contract of 8-months for our high season at TUI, with a possibility of renewal.
A possible contract extension depends on your individual performance, economic conditions and the potential need for additional pilots.
If you have commenced an integrated ATPL course or have attempted any theoretical exams required for the issue of a Commercial Pilot Licence or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (regardless of the result) you will not be accepted on the TUI MPL Scheme.
Yes, you can still apply if you hold a PPL but with a maximum of 100hrs total time. No additional ratings may have been added to the licence. I.e., Night Rating, Instrument Rating, Flight Instructor Rating etc.
You will receive final feedback in July 2024.
Yes, there will be courses on an annual basis.
