Role models in the Tech World: Elke Reichart recognised as one of the “Inspiring 50“

TUI Group’s Chief Digital Officer receives an award at the DLD digital conference

In the framework of the Digital Life Design (DLD) 2019 Conference held in Munich, the “Inspiring Fifty” initiative presented the winners of the first Inspiring Fifty DACH Awards. The role models receiving an award include Elke Reichart, Chief Digital Officer at TUI Group since February 2018. The Awards were presented to 50 inspiring women in the tech industry. They help shape the future through innovation and leadership roles within businesses, and therefore act as role models for future generations of young female managers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

“The initiative can encourage more young women to choose a career in the IT and technology world, ideally also at TUI. I am therefore delighted to be part of and contribute to its success” said Elke Reichart, Chief Digital Officer TUI Group.

According to PwC’s “Women in Tech“ report, a survey among the young target group has shown that only 11% of the young respondents were able to name a famous female working or having worked in technology, while more than twice as many, or 25%, were able to name a famous male. That is why the visibility of successful female top managers should be enhanced so that they can act as role models and inspire young talents to consider a professional career in this sector, the study recommends.

ABOUT INSPIRING FIFTY

Inspiring Fifty is a non-profit organisation aiming to increase diversity in the technology sector. The initiative was founded in order to spotlight women excelling in tech careers. Due to the increase in visibility and attention, these women act as role models and living examples showing that women can be successful and build a career in the tech industry, previously dominated by men. The Inspiring Fifty initiative, originally established in the Netherlands, is growing around the world and presented a separate award for Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the first time in 2018.
