EMERGING TALENT
EMERGING TALENT
Start your career with us!
Our apprenticeship, placement and graduate programmes are essential in ensuring we develop a pipeline of emerging talent for our UK & Ireland business. We offer opportunities across a number of business areas, ensuring you experience an exciting mix of day-to-day business activities. Working right at the heart of our business – with real responsibilities, and the chance to work on real projects. You’ll gain a unique insight into our exciting and dynamic industry, with exposure to many other business areas and senior colleagues. You’ll have lots of fun during your time with us, and we’ll ensure you get the support you need, every step of the way.
In a business that encourages our customers and colleagues to ‘Live Happy’ we’re looking for candidates who are motivated, with a drive to succeed, and who thrive on looking for solutions to real business challenges, with a great communication style that enables collaboration. Ultimately, as our programmes have already shown, many of our previous apprentice, placement and graduate colleagues are now working in more senior roles within the business, and so we’re also looking for leadership potential and the ability and ambition to go far once the programme has ended.
HOW WE WORK
At TUI we believe that work is something you do, not somewhere you go. We understand that as part of your Emerging Talent journey at TUI you’ll be keen to get to know our business and your colleagues, we also recognise that some elements of the programmes you’ll be part of simply work better face to face rather than virtually. We want to support and coach you throughout your journey and envisage that this could mean being in the office up to three days per week initially and your manager will provide clear guidance on how this will work in your business function.
In addition, TUI WORKWIDE provides colleagues, whose job allow them to do so, to work abroad for up to 30 working days per year – in a holiday destination, their favourite city or simply in a place they particularly like or find important. We are proud to offer flexibility and we strive to ensure our ways of working are inclusive throughout the colleague journey.

YOUR DEVELOPMENT
At TUI, we believe learning and development really matters for all of us if we’re going to be better at our jobs and further our careers – be it becoming an expert at what we do, broadening our knowledge or moving into a different role.
The training for many of the technical skills you need will be given to you by your business area, and in many of our programmes you’ll have the opportunity to gain an apprenticeship. More general and behavioural skills are delivered through a range of specific programmes, sessions, and an online learning suite, which are delivered by our People Development team. All of this is underpinned by support from your line manager and mentor, ensuring you’ll have a great start to your career journey.
HINTS AND TIPS FOR APPLYING
When it comes to our recruitment process, we want to help you perform at your best. We’ll give you lots of advice along the way and have shared our main tips below for making your application stand out.
If you need reasonable adjustments to be made to complete any part of our recruitment process, please contact emergingtalentrecruitment@tui.co.uk so that we can support you.
Application Tips:
Application
• Remember, first impressions count – this is the first time we’re getting to know you, so it’s a big opportunity to sell yourself.
• Read and answer each question carefully – check all your grammar and spelling and keep to any word count limits.
• Consider your answers fully – we want to get to know you, your strengths, motivation and affinity with TUI, so we want to see that you’ve put some thought into your application.
Online assessments
• The best way to prepare for this stage is to do some practice tests beforehand in verbal, numerical and logical reasoning. There are several practice sites you can find online to help you here, as well as the opportunity to complete some practice questions just before you start your assessments.
• If you feel like you need to brush up your skills a bit more in this area, particularly for numerical reasoning, try visiting a website like GCSE Bitesize which covers the type of maths you’ll usually need in numerical tests.
Digital interview
• Provide us with examples to back up your responses, and use interview techniques such as STARR (Situation, Task, Action, Result, Reflection) to ensure you’re giving full examples in a clear, structured, and concise way.
• Get practicing – whether with friends, family, university, school or college, this will help you get used to answering some common interview questions. You could also simply record your answers to get used to recording yourself.
• Be yourself – we’re not looking for movie stars or robots! Try to be yourself and answer the questions as naturally as you can.
Assessment Day
• Get to know TUI’s amazing culture, learn about our values, and think about what this means to you. Let your passion shine through!
• Do your research – this includes TUI, the programme and business are you’ve applied for, our competitors, and the travel industry.
• Be curious and ask questions – this is the perfect opportunity for you to find out more about us, and whether we’re right for you.
