How does the security clearance work?
Due to the cabin crew role is security‑classified, all candidates who receive a job offer must complete a security clearance in accordance with the Swedish Security Protection Act (säkerhetsskyddslagen). This process includes both a background check and a security interview carried out by our security partner, SRI. These steps are required to ensure the safety of our organisation, our employees and our passengers.
If you are offered a position, the clearance includes the following steps:
Reference check:
You will need to provide several references, and we recommend informing them beforehand. Their timely response is important, as delays may affect your clearance.
Five‑year documented timeline:
You must submit a detailed overview of the past five years, covering work, studies, travel or other activities. Each period must be supported by documentation (such as employment certificates, school records or other proof).
It’s important that the timeline has no gaps longer than 28 days. If you were unemployed, travelling or on leave, you simply need to state it and provide written confirmation.
Security interview:
You will also take part in a security interview conducted by SRI. It lasts around 90 minutes and includes questions about relationships, finances, lifestyle and similar areas. The purpose is to build a complete and accurate understanding of your background.
The process can feel extensive, but you’ll receive clear guidance from us and SRI along the way. Please note that the security clearance is only carried out if you are offered a position and we'll make sure to inform you when this process begins.
What is UK ETA?
As of April 2nd 2025 you will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) document to travel to the UK. TUIfly Nordic operate flights to/from the UK as well as travel to the UK as a part of your training, meaning that you as Cabin Crew will have to obtain an ETA prior to your start date in order to perform your duties. Further information on when and where to apply for your ETA will be provided during the recruitment process. This document will not be reimbursed, but an out-of-pocket expense of £16.
What does it mean to sign a consent form from transportstyrelsen?
Background checks are part of the security screening that employers must conduct for certain positions, such as cabin crew, according to the Swedish Transport Agency's regulations. The Security Police check if the person appears in various police registers before allowing an employment within the given position. Because of this, a consent form needs to be signed with a wet signing and email it to us before your Assessment Centre, so we're able to provide the authorities with it when offering an employment.
You'll receive more information on this when you've been given an offer.
What should I expect during the Cabin Crew Training course?
Our Cabin Crew training courses are full time and run for approximately 5-6 weeks. During the course you will learn about health and safety, where there will be both practical and theory elements, along with regular exams that need to be passed to a high standard. There will be early starts, late finishes and you will be required to study.
