General
How long does it usually take to receive a start date after being placed in the Talent Pool?
Once you have completed the Cabin Crew selection process, our Candidate Experience Team will contact you by email or phone with the outcome. Successful candidates will either receive a direct offer with a specific start date or be placed in our Talent Pool. If you join the Talent Pool, the waiting period can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on business requirements and operational needs. Throughout this period, we will keep you regularly informed with Talent Pool updates.
What aircraft type will I fly on, and what kind of routes will I operate?
We operate a modern fleet of primarily Boeing aircraft, which varies across our markets. This mainly includes Boeing 737 aircraft (including the fuel-efficient MAX) for short- and medium-haul routes, as well as Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul operations. Your specific routes will depend on the flying programme of your assigned base.
What type of medical examination is required?
The type of medical assessment required depends on the country in which you apply. In the Netherlands, an EASA Class 2 Medical Certificate is required.
We work with designated medical centres for these examinations, so please wait for our communication before booking any medical appointments. Only medical examinations arranged through our approved partners and booked by us will be reimbursed.
What does the drug and alcohol screening involve?
At TUI, we conduct drug and alcohol screening for all Cabin Crew candidates as part of our safety standards. The process is professional, confidential, and follows aviation industry requirements. In the Netherlands, this includes:
- Breath alcohol test
- Urine test for psychoactive substances (drugs)
What does the security screening involve?
TUI carries out a thorough security screening for all Cabin Crew candidates to comply with international aviation standards. This process helps ensure the safety of our customers and meets legal requirements. In your region, the security screening includes a criminal record check.
Your recruiter will be happy to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
What happens if I do not pass part of the training?
At TUI, we are committed to supporting your success throughout the Cabin Crew training programme. Our training standards are designed to ensure excellence in both safety and service.
If you do not pass a particular training element, you will receive a sanction. After three sanctions and/or failed examinations, you will unfortunately be unable to continue the course or join our Cabin Crew team.
In addition, passing certain critical requirements is mandatory, including the reach test, swimming assessment, and being able to sit correctly in a crew seat as outlined in our requirements video. If you do not meet these specific requirements, you will not be able to continue the training programme.
Your training team will provide clear guidance and support throughout the process.
What does it mean to be on standby duty?
When you are assigned standby duty, you are designated as reserve crew. You must be ready in uniform and available at short notice, allowing you to be called upon quickly to operate flights whenever required.
What is considered a reasonable commuting distance from the airport base?
A reasonable commuting distance depends on the base you have applied for. For Schiphol Airport, you must be able to report to base within 60 minutes. This means you must be in uniform and ready for duty within that timeframe.
Is relocation support available if I live far from my assigned base?
We do not provide relocation or accommodation support. However, we trust our Cabin Crew Members to arrange their own accommodation near their assigned base.
It is important that you can consistently report for duty on time. How you organise this is entirely up to you; we simply ask that you are punctual and ready for your duties.
Does my base provide a shuttle bus from crew parking to the crew room?
The availability of shuttle services varies by base. Your base may or may not offer transport between the crew parking area and the crew room.
Information regarding shuttle schedules, facilities, and pick-up or drop-off points will be shared during onboarding or can be obtained from your local Crew Support Team. If no shuttle service is available, the crew parking area will be within walking distance of the crew room.
At Schiphol Airport, no shuttle bus service is provided. The crew parking area is within walking distance of the crew room.
Please contact your local Crew Support Team for the latest information regarding transport arrangements at your base.
How long does the training programme last?
The Cabin Crew training programme lasts approximately 5 to 6 weeks.
What types of assessments are included during training?
As a Cabin Crew Member, you will complete a variety of engaging assessments designed to prepare you for life on board. These may include examinations covering:
- Safety and Emergency Procedures
- First Aid
- Customer Service (role-play exercises)
- Technical Aircraft Knowledge
- Water Survival Training
- Service Assessments
Each element has been carefully designed to build your confidence and ensure you are fully prepared for this dynamic role. Our experienced trainers will support and guide you throughout the process, ensuring you understand exactly what is expected of you.
What are the employment conditions?
Your employment package consists of a base salary, supplemented by flight-related allowances such as daily allowances for flying days and overnight stays. In addition, you will receive commuting compensation and allowances for uniforms and shoes.
You will also benefit from exclusive TUI discounts on holidays and products, as well as access to pension and insurance schemes that support your long-term financial wellbeing.
