As Defect Support Engineer you will be a part of the MOC team providing support across the TUI Group airlines to manage deferred defects and minimise rectification time, increasing the operational availability and on time performance of the fleet . Reporting to the MOC Manager, you will be working Mon-Fri within the MOC team based in the TUI Operations Control Centre in Luton.

 

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Managing the unscheduled maintenance requirements of the TUI Airline fleet, ensuring that deferred defects are minimised and rectification is planned accordingly in order to maintain airworthiness.
  • Monitor and organise deferred defects to secure a timely closure, liaising with internal partners such as Supply Chain AOG desk & MOC Engineers alongside TUI and external maintenance providers to ensure rectification of defects within the prescribed time limits
  • In charge of alerting the relevant CAMO and Flight Operations departments where deferred defect closure is not achievable within the rectification interval and requesting defect extensions, demonstrating justification for the request to satisfy regulatory requirements
  • Carry out root cause analysis into any extension requests and propose mitigating actions where appropriate, including the increase of stock holding or recommendations to the Part 145 organisations
  • In control of maintaining oversight of cabin component stock levels, analysing trends in parts consumption, ensuring that levels are monitored and adjusted according to usage to minimize the need for defect deferral
  • Research required parts for defect rectification using approved manuals and documentation, liaising with CAMO departments and OEMs to resolve queries regarding effectivity/applicability of spare parts
  • Scheduling deferred defect rectification into overnight work packages when spares are available, working closely with the operational maintenance planning team to ensure all planned work is within the stations resource capacity and achievable
  • Work closely with Supply Chain to monitor spares ordering and drive the delivery schedule to the correct base on time in order to minimize cancellation of planned work
  • Coordinating defect packages with the Base Maintenance Production Planning teams to maximise the defect clearance rate during scheduled base maintenance checks, allowing them to release aircraft with minimal deferrals into the line environment
  • Producing and analysing defect rectification statistics as required by the MOC Manager, generating weekly and monthly reports to aid fleet analysis and KPI targets, and to endorse initiatives to reduce deferral levels

 

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Educated to a minimum of 5 GCSE passes with experience in an aviation operational environment.
  • Part 66 license and TUI fleet type knowledge advantageous but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of Minimum Equipment List application and associated defect deferral and rectification processes
  • An understanding of the operational impact of deferrals from both an airworthiness and passenger perception aspect
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of My Boeing Fleet and understanding aircraft maintenance documentation including AMM, IPC/IPD and CMM
  • Excellent decision making skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Have strong inter-personal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to compile reports to a high standard.
  • Self-motivated to plan and organise themselves with the ability to prioritise personal workloads as the operational environment dictates
  • Flexible people skills, understanding cultural differences in a multinational operation and adapting behaviors accordingly
  • Strong IT skills with Microsoft Office knowledge essential, AMOS experience advantageous
