Reporting directly to the Head of Marine & Port Operations the Marine Port Costs Manager supports Marine & Port Operations Team to ensure that port costs are managed in the most prudent manner.

The Marine Port Costs Manager liaises with the Head of Marine & Port Operations, General Agents and Finance Department to approve future port costs from a marine perspective, track and analyse current season port costs to ensure that correct charges are billed and work with the Itineraries & Planning teams to ensure that itineraries are being planned and executed in the most cost efficient manner.  

As a key member of the Marine & Port Operations Team, the Marine Port Costs Manager has significant voice and email contact with both internal and external stakeholders and will be expected to build good working relationships with all to deliver a best in class service.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Act as the main contact for the finance department to create accurate financial forecasts and budgets, and provide cost-saving strategies to the Head of Marine & Port Operations.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the MXP Port Cost Management system and ensure FDA amounts are accurate and reflect the services procured.
  • Verify supplier allocations in the FDA, compile weekly port analysis, and ensure month-end FDAs are processed and up-to-date for reporting purposes.
  • Provide end-of-season ship-by-ship analysis of fixed and variable spends, and review the MXP Port Cost Management system for accuracy.
  • Advise vessels on managing variable costs, assist in planning for the upcoming season, and review variable cost spends at the end of the season.
  • Provide strategic analysis of home and wayport costs to outline port comparisons and identify opportunities for full-season service/commercial agreements to benefit from economies of scale.
  • Offer strategic advice on cost-saving strategies for port fees and serve as the key contact for onboard teams regarding port costs.
  • Ensure onboard teams follow procedures for reporting port costs, continuously improve port cost procedures, and assist with project work as required, including international travel.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in analysing and approving both proforma and final disbursement accounts.
  • Skilled in developing financial forecasts, particularly related to port costs.
  • Knowledge of the MXP Itinerary and Port Cost Management system is preferred, it is not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • You can analyse and present data in various formats effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excel in organisation and planning, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a high-pressure environment.
  • You have a good knowledge of IT systems and processes, and you are proficient in Microsoft Excel.
